The arbutus is Canada's only broad-leaf evergreen and is found only on Vancouver Island and the lower coast of mainland British Columbia. Visitors can enjoy a 225 metre sandy beach, suitable for young families, with mountain views backed by the pastoral Saanich Peninsula, the Gulf Islands and Mount Baker.
