The Brannon Lake shale deposits yield numerous fossils from the Cretaceous era.

The directions in West Coast Fossils will send you on a wild goose chase. Heading North on the Nanaimo Parkway, turn left at Jinglepot Road, and then right onto Biggs Road. Continue past the prison and campgrounds until the paved road ends.

Most of the deposits are currently on private land.
