HMC Dockyard

The Canadian Navy was formed in 1910. It's foundation and early development were clearly influenced by the Royal Navy. It has, however, developed it's own customs and traditions.

The Canadian Navy's fleet is split between the Atlantic and the Pacific. Maritime Forces Pacific (MARPAC), based in Esquimalt, British Columbia, is home to the Navy's west coast fleet.

CANFLTPAC's operational ships include five Halifax-class Canadian Patrol Frigates (CPFs), two Iroquois-class air defence command and control destroyers and a replenishment vessel. Five maritime coastal defence vessels (MCDVs) have recently joined the fleet. A Minesweeper Auxiliary Vessel (MSA) is also presently serving on this coast.
