Fleming Beach
Fleming Beach is named for brothers Harold and Edgar Fleming, who came to Victoria in the 1880s from London England and built their house "Libernel" near the beach. Because the site was so isolated, the Fleming family were the first in the area to have a telephone installed.

Rock Climbing
Fleming Beach has great bouldering (rocks short enough to climb relatively safely without a rope), as well as excellent top rope climbs, where the rope anchors are preset at the top of the climb. There are two main areas to climb at Fleming Beach - Fisherman's Wall and the Overhang. Fisherman's Wall is easy to spot (it's right beside the shed), and has seven routes, ranging from 5.7 to 5.11. The Overhang, just around the corner from Fisherman's Wall facing the sea, has 10 routes ranging from 5.8 to 5.11.

Macaulay Point Battery
In 1878, the Macaulay Point Earthwork Battery was built under the direction of Lt. Col. de la Chevois T. Irwin, Royal Artillery. Between June 10 and August 30, 1878, Finlayson Point, Macaulay Point and Brothers Island were completed. The first battery was completed before construction began on the second to insure the coast was defended in case of a Russian attack during the Russo-Turkish War.
