Kennedy Lake

Kennedy Lake was named for Arthur Edward Kennedy (b.1809). He was Governor of the colony of Vancouver Island, and Commander-in-Chief and Vice-Admiral of Vancouver Island from 1863-1866.

With a close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, harbour seals sometimes follow migrating salmon up Kennedy River into the lake. Small water spouts sometimes form on the lake. This area was identified for protection in the Clayoquot Sound Land-Use Decision.
