This moderately sized stream flows northeast from Comox Lake, through Courtenay to Comox Harbour.

Access to the lower 4km is from various roads in and around Courtenay - car is adequate. However, there is only limited road and trail access to the upper 6km of the river.

Fossils may be found either side of the Inland Island highway and the logging road bridge crossings.
