Saxe Point Park located on Cape Saxe (Fraser Street off Esquimalt Rd ), the name given to the point by Lt. Commander Wood, a member of the crew of the survey vessel H.M.S. Pandora, which surveyed the area in 1849. The name Saxe is part of the name of HRH Queen Victoria’s husband and consort, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Saxe Point Park was officially created in 1934.
This waterfront park has a great view over the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Washington’s Olympic Mountains. Its combination of forest and grassy fields makes it a great place for picnics or a nature hike. Beachcombers and scuba divers enjoy this park for its rustic nature.
