Sproat Lake is a favoured location in the Alberni Valley for swimming, fishing, water skiing and wind surfing.

During forest fire season, the gigantic Martin Mars water bombers use the lake for their runway as they thunder off to extinguish wild fires. In the winter, the scenery changes dramatically as snow and fog enevelope the area.
