The West and East Coasts are remarkably diverse in terms of geology, and offer a visual insight into Vancouver Island's volcanic and earthquake history. All destinations in this section should be considered overnight or extended all day trips when your point of departure is Victoria. |

| Getting around Most of the destinations in this section are located a relatively short distance from the Trans Canada highway or a major highway and are easily acessable by car. The Backroad Mapbook or a 1:400,000 map of Vancouver Island are essential tools to carry with you unless your are familiar with Vancouver Island. |
