Getting around
Most of the destinations in this section are located a relatively long distance apart. They can be considered day trips, but are better suited as overnight or extended trips when departing from Victoria. Driving time from Victoria to Port Alberni is approximately 3 hours. The Backroad Mapbook or a 1:400,000 map of Vancouver Island are essential tools to carry, along with emergency food, water and shelter.
The weather can change rapidly in this area, always carry a change of clothes and plan on being wet and cold at some point, even in the summer season. |
